DelhiByFoot invites you to spend a morning exploring the twin forts of Tughlaqabad & Adilabad, once separated by water bodies and now by the bustling Mehrauli-Badarpur Road (MB Road). Listen to stories of battles & empires gone by and marvel at the splendid isolation of these twin forts, so near to the hectic pace of Nehru Place, Delhi’s ‘Office District.’
ATTRACTIONS: Leave Delhi’s madding crowds behind and enter a zone of solitude, let your hair down and see yourself become a child as you run up & down fort ramps where once richly caparisoned elephants walked into the grand fort entrances with the Sultans on their backs. Jump over fort walls, walk amongst wild grass growing in palace room ruins or see if you can trace the secret tunnel that leads from Tughlaqabad fort to the unknown citadel of Adilabad
BEST TIMES TO VISIT: Morning 7:30 AM onwards
DURATION & TOTAL WALKING DISTANCE: 3.5 Hours, 2 Kms in a loop.
STARTING POINT: Ticket Counter of Tughalqabad Fort
BEST WAY TO REACH: If you are coming from Gurgaon, take MB Rd and after crossing the intersection of Batra Hospital, drive on for another 2 Kms and on your left side you will see the massive walls of the Fort. Tughlaqabad Fort complex on MB Rd has adequate parking space for those in their cars.
Nearest Metro Stn is Govindpuri, on Violet Line (Badarpur Track) and a 5 Km Auto-rickshaw ride will bring you to the Fort. DTC buses ply on Mehrauli-Badarpur Road with regular frequency.
ESSENTIALS TO WEAR & CARRY:
1- Do wear a good pair of walking shoes since we have a fair amount of climbing up & down fort walls & bastions and rocky paths.
2- Sun-shades/Rain-shades depending upon weather
